We recently hosted a webinar where JustFoodERP discussed and demonstrated how ERP for food manufacturing can contribute to safety within the food and beverage industry. Jay Lebo, Product Marketing Manager for JustFoodERP, gave a brief overview of JustFoodERP services and their industry leadership. Todd Austin, Senior Application Consultant, demonstrated how food and beverage products move through a facility and how JustFoodERP can be used to facilitate faster and safer practices.
JustFoodERP and ERP for Food Manufacturing
JustFoodERP has over 200 customers and 100 employees with a well-established focus on the food and beverage industry. This concentrated approach to the industry is due to their highly specialized knowledge, and their ability to conduct different implementations and customizations of their systems to fit a wide variety of needs.
Integrated Quality, Testing and Audit Updates
As part of ERP for food manufacturing, products move from one state as incoming raw materials to outgoing finished products. Features such as traceability and product tracking, offered by JustFoodERP, can help facilitate the overall process as well as create a system that makes problems easy to solve.
JustFoodERP modules are built to monitor and track quality assurance. Once the audits and tests are specified and in place, the system automatically generates them based on the product at hand, so no manual searching is necessary. The raw material will come in, and its tests and audits will automatically appear when the shipment is scanned in.
The information from the audits is then captured by the system; this continues in every module at every stage of production. Todd also explained that because the system is constantly updating in real time, it is able to check itself. If something isn’t approved at one stage, the system performs an update allowing everyone dealing with that specific product to know immediately about that problem. An additional feature called the Shop Floor Control module allows people to have the software on separate devices and monitor the system equally from an office or from the warehouse floor.
Point-to-Point Goods Tracking and Tracing
These highlights are just part of the JustFoodERP system of ERP for food manufacturing, and were used to show how they can be leveraged in the event of a setback such as a recall. We were shown how every shipment and lot is tagged from each vendor, so if the vendor were to contact the production facility with bad news, the system is already in place to find the exact shipment with the problem. Because the goods have been tracked and traced and audited at every point, the now contaminated shipment can be easily searched within the system to find exactly what finished goods were contaminated and to where they were shipped. All of this information can be found in seconds due to the layers of product tracking and traceability, and can effectively make even a recall a non-event.
We were only able to spend a short forty-five minutes with Todd and Jay, but it was clear from their in-depth presentation that JustFoodERP software geared towards ERP for food manufacturing has given a lot of thought to how ERP for food manufacturing can improve the safety structures in the food and beverage industry, and that JustFoodERP has already started developing the systems to do so.
