QAD’s roots are in manufacturing. In fact, it’s a manufacturing product that expanded into financials, instead of the other way around.

One of its big advantages is that is highly scalable, allowing companies to grow their QAD solution as they grow. Another advantage is that it can handle discrete (design-to-order) and repetitive manufacturing with the same depth of functionality. It utilizes a rules-based configurator to support configure-to-order, as well as the ability to configure on features and options.

QAD also offers support for capital expenditure projects, for both purchased and manufactured assets, that is fully integrated within the system, including project management and accounting. Within the core system, it has embedded quality management and advanced demand planning. And, for companies with complex requirements, QAD offers advanced, add-on products to manage supply chain and demand planning.

QAD started offering ERP in the cloud in 2007, and today nearly all net new customers use the QAD Cloud or a partner cloud.

In the United States, QAD solutions are largely implemented by QAD’s implementation services team. QAD also has a global implementation partner network and a training and certification program.

QAD is no stranger in the ERP world, having been around since 1979 and building a loyal customer base along the way. The company focuses exclusively on six manufacturing verticals – Automotive, High-Tech, CPG, Industrial Equipment, Life Sciences and Food & Beverage.

QAD deploys its software either on-premise or in its own private cloud, something that makes it stand out against its competitors who prefer a public cloud option.

QAD has honed-in on a few sub-verticals within F&B, with strong and growing customer bases in meats/ proteins, candy/confections and spirits/wine/beer.
