A few weeks ago, IFS had the opportunity to present the IFS Make to Order ERP system during our MTO webinar series. I served as the Subject Matter expert for this session, and was able to ask some questions, in addition to the audience, after the demo of the solution. Here are the answers to some of the top questions asked during the webinar.
Q: Does a user have the ability to configure the toolbars on the production capability screens of the IFS make to order ERP solution?
A: Yes, this feature is customizable.
Q: Is there an embedded configurator for the configuration occurring at the beginning of the quoting process?
A: Yes, there is an embedded back office configurator that has configuration rules and a sales entry point that is carried out throughout manufacturing process. This feature is native to the basic product.
Q: Does the IFS make to order ERP solution have the capability to maintain a version history of the quoting process and revisions made throughout?
A: Yes it does. For example, there are revisions embedded into the actual quotes. The user has the ability to come in the quote screen and makes changes. Once these changes have been made, the revision under the version history will be updated.
Q: Can you speak a bit about IFS deployed via cloud vs. on-premise?
A: Back at our World Conference that occurred in Boston this past May, IFS announced their IFS Applications solution will be on Azure. IFS does offer cloud. We see the cloud offering becoming more and more popular with or without managed services. Some customers look into it as a way to upload some of those IT responsibilities they might not have in-house. Cloud is definitely gaining momentum, and we do have the ability to offer that to our customers and prospects.
Q: What is the capability of IFS for mobile devices?
A: We have developed apps for Android, iOS, and Microsoft that you can download from the respective download stores. For example, you can go to the Apple Store or iTunes and download the IFS app specifically. IFS’s Warehouse data collection capability can run on a mobile device. CRM can also run on a mobile device, for the salesman on the go. You can also run the entire IFS applications suite, on a Microsoft Surface or Android tablet. There are some things on the screen that are touch screen enabled, for example. Several buttons meant more for a touch screen than a computer.
