Looking back at manufacturing and distribution engagements Ultra’s independent ERP consultants have guided, we see teams that have maximized the value of enterprise technology evaluation, selection and implementation, and driven business process transformation.
Throughout 2017, Ultra has worked with a variety of organizations to define the best processes to avoid the pitfalls common to ERP selections, evaluations, and implementations.
And throughout it all, our consultants stayed active contributing to Ultra’s ERP Blog.
Shared here are some of the most read ERP blog posts of 2017, organized by key topics that defined this year’s activities.
Achieving Value and ROI
Helping the ERP project team achieve a return on their ERP deployments has always been our goal. Ultra Consultants Senior Consultant, Gary McGregor, presented an in-depth blog entitled Managing the Business Transformation: Realizing the Return on Your ERP Investment.
Another way to find value is to complete an ERP performance review. In the blog post, Time for an ERP Performance Review? we encourage enterprises to measure how well their ERP is currently performing to decide if a new ERP is warranted.
Stories from the Field
In other best ERP blog posts, Ultra’s consultants launched a recurring blog series titled “Stories from the Field” keeping readers apprised of the progress of key Ultra engagements throughout North America. Ultra’s Regional Manager, Dennis Gilhooley Jr. got us started with his post entitled “Stories from the Field: Benefits of ERP Cut Across the Enterprise”. He notes how Ultra team members, as ERP consultants, come to feel like we’re part of the organization – working shoulder to shoulder with ERP project teams. His blog post told three key project success stories.
Business Consultant Andrew Stein also contributed to the series with two posts. The first in the series, entitled “Stories from the Field: ERP for the Construction Industry” showcased a selection project with an engineering and construction firm.
In Andrew’s second “Stories from the Field” blog post, he discussed how ERP technology helps organizations preserve “tribal knowledge” from the many retiring experts.
Driving Success in Process Manufacturing
Ultra Consultants knows that ERP software for process manufacturers is often more complex than solutions designed for other industries because of regulatory compliance, batch production challenges, ingredient and recipe track and trace issues, complicated supply chains, and record keeping/lot tracking requirements, among others.
Ultra’s team worked with the management team at Deschutes Brewery to identify, evaluate, and select a new ERP system. Read the success story in Brewing a Better Beer: What a Craft Brewery Learned about the ERP Evaluation Process.
Another success story comes from our collaboration with JustFood ERP,working with a global snack food company to evaluate and implement their enterprise software solution in JustFood for Manufacturing Companies: A Client success Story.
Ultra teamed with a food processing and packaging company that manufactures various pre-packaged and frozen seafood and vegetable products. The company engaged Ultra to help them navigate their ERP systems selection process. Check out the blog ERP Selection for Food Manufacturing Companies: Warehouse Management, Quality Control, and More.
In a three-part series on ERP for pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotech manufacturers, Ultra Senior Consultant David Saunders looked at the industry-specific requirements that affect ERP selection. In the first of the series, ERP for Regulated Industries: Distinguishing between Verification and Validation, he described the regulatory mandates that impact ERP selection.
Following on the theme of validation, Saunders takes a deeper dive into the subject in the blog post, ERP for Regulated Industries: A Closer Look at ERP Software Validation.
He completes the series with a look at the required functions and tasks software systems must provide to be successfully validated by the FDA, in his blog ERP for Highly Regulated Industries: What are the FDA Requirements?
