My colleague Dave Saunders and I are in the midst of kicking off an implementation with a current food and beverage client. For this engagement, we partnered with JustFoodERP software vendor, who sent a team that is both talented and a true joy to work with. This team came on-site extremely prepared, putting a very well thought out process into effect. The JustFoodERP implementation kickoff ran very smoothly, because their consultants came in with a high level of organization in line with the JustFoodERP methodology.
Sometimes Simple is Key
The process Dave and I were so impressed with seems somewhat simple in its conception, but extremely effective. JustFoodERP’s implementation is centered on some basic information – a checklist of questions regarding the current and future state analyses. This information in turn leads into the conference room pilot requirements, and are the features in the setup of a new ERP system.
The Importance of the BPI Process Map
The JustFoodERP team’s preparedness combined with the aggregated knowledge of the Ultra consulting team regarding the client and software-driven processes, resulted in a well-defined list of features/functions to be turned on and tested. Utilizing the Business Process Improvement map Ultra created during the selection engagement to support the implementation, the JustFoodERP team members documented all the open issues and needs of our client in only a few days. The conversation flowed from current to future states, and dove into specific features and needs of the organization.
If you are not familiar with the software, JustFoodERP is a Microsoft NAV-based solution with Food and Beverage specific enhancements written, sold and supported by JustFoodERP. Headquartered in Toronto Canada, IndustryBuilt is the parent company of JustFoodERP, and a Microsoft VAR.
Ultra’s Role in the Project
Ultra is well-versed in wearing several hats throughout our many engagements, but in this specific project, we functioned as the project manager, change manager, and auditor. Our role was to lead the ERP implementation throughout the entire project. In situations like this, Ultra is responsible for everything from configuration and setup to the conference room pilot, conversion and cut over, the resulting go-live, and activities post-go-live.
