For the past several months, Ultra has been working with a global producer of vitamin supplements and protein ingredients for both human and animal consumption. This project is another great example of a multi-year engagement with Ultra that is transforming the client’s business and delivering solid ROI. In this blog, we will discuss Ultra’s role in the project and the value we delivered to this client through the standard phases of an ERP project.
In this engagement, Ultra initiated the phases of an ERP project by providing a multi-phased approach starting with Business Process Improvement (BPI) services, which included a deep analysis of the client’s current state activities across multiple organizations, business units, and locations. We also provided extensive education and future state visioning centered on Ultra’s industry knowledge of best practices and technology automation opportunity.
The second of the phases of an ERP project entailed Ultra leading the client through a comprehensive ERP selection process that best aligns to their long-term future state aspirations. Through Ultra’s guidance, this client selected an ERP solution that is fully aligned with the client’s future state, as determined during the business process mapping phase. Throughout the selection process, Ultra’s experience with ERP vendors resulted in a negotiated contract, which ended up saving our client several hundred thousand dollars relative to what they might have been able to negotiate on their own.
The third installment of the phases of an ERP project included Ultra’s services that have guided this client in the implementation activities of the technology and best practice processes. Given the business complexity of this global company, the implementation activities are being conducting in multiple phases according to the transformation roadmap. This strategic approach is architected on a single ERP platform with common business processes across all business entities. This approach allows strategic flexibility in organizational efficiencies that decouple business growth from headcount increases enabling a growth trajectory without adding SG&A costs.
As implementation activities continue, the business transformation activities are well underway. Through Ultra’s expertise and leadership, this client is pursuing a multi-year business transformation roadmap to progress their business to a new level of operational capability and growth. This transformation roadmap is justified through a solid business case for change that balances the expenditures and investments with the identified efficiencies and expectations. As we are approaching year 3 in our partnership, Ultra is proud to report that this client is confidently realizing their payback expectations and efficiency objectives, and maximizing ERP ROI.
